Desert Bouquet
This has been such a tough winter for so many of my family and friends who don’t live in the desert southwest. A visual desert bouquet seemed like the perfect ‘gift’ to help warm everyone up as they look forward to spring (Yes, while it’s officially here, for many, spring ushered in more of the white stuff).
As my last photo blog indicated, I recently took a photography class and hope that some of what I learned shows up in the desert wildflower photos below. This time: yellow, purple and orange flowers. Next post: blues, whites and reds. (As usual, you may find it worthwhile to click on each photo to enlarge).
Of course, I have to start with a series of Mexican poppies!

The photos bring joy to my heart …such vibrant colours Melissa .
We didn’t have a bad winter here in West Wales just the odd flutter of a snow flake so we were lucky . Now we have an abundance of daffodils, snowdrops and crocus …lambs …did I mention the lambs they are everywhere . We have been living on a farm whilst building our house …it’s been an amazing experience . Lots of books ,lots of writing and never stop dreaming . Reading ‘The Winter Witch ‘at the mo by Paula Brackston that is set in Wales , however the author doesn’t profess to be Welsh …so good

Ahh, it’s lovely to see the spring colors. 🙂 Soon they’ll be coming this way and I can’t wait. I’ve just seen the little green stalks of the daffodils poking their way through the soil.
I love the orange lily!

Those little green stalks give hope, don’t they? Yes, the mariposa lily is one of my all-time favorites in the desert. So unique and vibrant amid tawny grasses.

We kinda missed winter here, didn’t we? But it’s still good to see spring arrive, with her colorful going-to-the-races hat on. Friends in the north will appreciate these, Melissa. Nice shots!

Next focus? That’ll be hard since I took 350 photos in one day and still have plenty more wildflowers to share (plus OTHER images as my ‘practice’ shots. Then there are the later bloomers in the desert – those magnificent ones that somehow defy the heat and burst open with incredible color! I’ll just HAVE to get out and take photos of them, as well.
